Clinical Pilates at Fundamental Health

Since our last blog post about Clinical Pilates, there have been some exciting updates! Our team of practitioners providing DMA Clinical Pilates treatment has grown from two osteopaths, Lauren and Alyssa, to five, with Jesse, Tom and Liz, our pelvic health physio all completing their training. With this has come a larger and more comprehensive timetable, with more classes available throughout the day and week and more access to one-on-one sessions, Yay!

So, what is Clinical Pilates and why is it different at Fundamental Health?

Clinical Pilates is a form of Pilates that is adapted and supervised by a highly qualified healthcare professional. Your clinician provides a tailored program of exercises guided by a thorough medical history and functional assessment. At Fundamental Health our osteopaths and physiotherapist consider Clinical Pilates as part of an holistic treatment approach. In our dedicated studio space we utilise both reformer and trapeze equipment in small group or one-on-one sessions to safely and effectively work on building endurance, strength and capacity for a variety of conditions.

Clinical Pilates is effective in the treatment of:

  • Lower back pain

  • Neck and shoulder pain

  • Sports injuries

  • Pre and post-natal care

  • Arthritis

  • Pre and post-surgery rehabilitation

  • Pelvic pain and prolapse management

  • Neurological conditions including MS, stroke and Parkinson’s Disease.

At Fundamental Health our practitioners have further training and interest in a variety of areas:

  • Liz - perimenopause/menopause, pelvic pain, prolapse, bladder and bowel dysfunction and male pelvic health.

  • Jesse - sporting injuries, rehabilitation and prevention.

  • Thomas - headaches/migraines, jaw, neck and back pain and athlete management.

  • Alyssa - pregnancy and pelvic pain, including endometriosis.

  • Lauren - pregnancy, women's pelvic health and visceral osteopathy.
