Change happens through Movement and Movement Heals: Joseph Pilates

What is Clinical Pilates:

DMA Clinical Pilates was founded by Craig Phillips in 1988 as a result of finding positive connections between Pilates exercises and spinal stability research. He had previously noticed that as many patients were progressing from physiotherapy programs to gym workouts their original symptoms were becoming aggravated. Pilates based exercise, he found, seemed to better fit the needs of his clients, particularly when retraining and optimising the recruitment of the deep stabilising muscles needed to assist in treating low back pain and neck pain.

How is Clinical Pilates different to a standard Pilates class at the gym?

Why do we choose Clinical Pilates over a standard strength-based Pilates program?

At Fundamental Health our therapist will assess and complete a personalised assessment prior to any individual Pilates session or class, so that your exercise program is tailored specifically to your needs.

Classes and individual sessions will include reformer, trapeze and mat work.

WE OFFER:

One-on-One Personalised Assessment

Book in for a personalised assessment aimed at ensuring that your Pilates program is tailored to you, your health and your well-being needs. This session involves a details case history and may not involve any Pilates work. It is important we know your history and injuries so we can provide the most tailored practice for you.

(NB: This is required before an individual session or any group classes)

Group sessions

Group sessions are available as per our timetable. Each class will run for 45 minutes and be limited to a maximum of 6 participants. This will ensure that all members of the group have access not only to the equipment but also to our instructors taking the class. (Please note a Personalised Assessment is required before joining our group sessions.)

Individual Clinical Pilates sessions

Individual sessions involve a one-on-one Pilates experience with you and the Instructor. (Please note a Personalised Assessment is required before joining our group sessions.)

NB: Private health insurance rebates can be claimed for assessments, and one-on-one sessions. Classes cannot be claimed. This is due to Medicare item numbers. Your Osteopaths are AHPRA registered practitioners with the same Pilates training as Physiotherapists. We encourage you to speak and advocate to your insurer to allow Osteopaths to receive the same coverage benefits as Physiotherapists.
