Pelvic Health Osteopathy
Pelvic health concerns are so common and are one of the key area’s our clinic and practitioners focus on.
One in three women, and one in ten men will experience a pelvic health condition of the course of their life.
Pelvic health osteopathy should be considered if you are experiencing pelvic symptoms, or if you have had a pelvic health complaint that has been unresolved with classical osteopathy or physiotherapy in the past.
Our pelvic health osteopaths have specialised training in pelvic health. Your appointment would include a typical whole body osteopathic assessment and case history, with the addition of specific internal vaginal assessment, treatment and management.
Common conditions our osteopaths treat include:
Chronic pelvic pain
Groin/hip/back pain
Painful periods
Constipation
Bladder conditions such as incontinence or urgency
Pregnancy and Post natal support
Prolapse
Painful sex
Pelvic health Osteopathy looks at the body as a whole, and not just at the site of pain or concern. Your Osteopath will not just assess the pelvic floor; they will look for any potential imbalances within the musculoskeletal system that may be impacting the function of your pelvic floor.
Our Osteopath’s offer two types of pelvic health appointments.
Pelvic and Women’s Health - This appointment will include a full case history, whole body and pelvic examinations (including internal vaginal exam), diagnosis and management.
Internal Pelvic Release Work - This appointment is different to our standard pelvic health appointments. The intention of internal pelvic release work is to address tension and pain and facilitate softness and release of the tissues of the pelvis. This work almost entirely utilizes internal vaginal release to access the internal pelvic structures, as well as some external body work of the whole body and pelvis.
